Minister for Regionalisation, Regional Communications and Regional Education, Senator the Hon Bridget McKenzie, will be meeting civic and business leaders today in Greater Shepparton to discuss opportunities from the Budget’s $2 billion Regional Accelerator Program.
“Shepparton is an important regional centre that is primed for growth, and that has local leadership and local vision to drive greater economic growth and development of Shepparton and its surrounds,” Minister McKenzie said.
Minister McKenzie’s visit to Greater Shepparton is part of a post-Budget tour of regional centres.
“Through the Regional Accelerator Program, the Federal Government will work closely with regional centres like Shepparton that have the ambition and plans to grow their economy and population to bring forward proposals for transformative investments for their local communities.
The Nationals Candidate for Nicholls, Sam Birrell said Greater Shepparton was in the box seat to take advantage of regional investment program like this from the Coalition Government.
“In my time as CEO of the Committee for Greater Shepparton, I worked towards this region achieving its potential. This fund gives us an opportunity to turbo charge our progress towards that goal.”
The $2 billion Regional Accelerator Program is part of an unprecedented $37.9 billion investment in our regions unveiled through the 2022-23 Federal Budget to make our nation wealthier and stronger, create tens of thousands of regional jobs and drive our economic growth.
Funding for the RAP will be delivered through dedicated Regional Accelerator rounds of 12 Federal flagship economic development programs such as the Modern Manufacturing Initiative, Trailblazer Universities Program and Export Market Development Grant Program.
