Much-needed upgrades at the historic Baranduda Scout Hall have been given the green light with confirmation of $250,000 in Federal Government funding for the 1st Baranduda Scout Group.
Nationals Senator Bridget McKenzie congratulated the 1st Baranduda Scout Group on its successful application.
“The Nationals made an election commitment of $250,000 to help this fantastic local group upgrade its historic hall and this is another Government commitment delivered for Indi,” Senator McKenzie said.
“This means the old hall will be fit for purpose for years to come. Users will see wheelchair access installed, a major upgrade of the kitchen, lighting and toilets as well as some crucial structural work done on the building.
“This upgrade will modernise the scout hall and will help attract new members to the wonderful scouting movement in this growing part of the wider Wodonga community.”
The upgrade work includes: restumping; rebuilding the existing toilet block and adding disabled access; installing new cupboards, benchtops, appliances and flooring in the kitchen; repairs to the hall’s façade, building a disabled access ramp; repairing the hall floor; and new guttering.
