The Nationals Senator for Victoria Bridget McKenzie continued her local government tour across regional Victoria today, meeting with Wodonga City Council to discuss their vision for the future.
“Wodonga has enormous potential and is reaping the benefits of sound planning and proactive management,” said Senator McKenzie.
“The Central Wodonga Rejuvenation Project, which is currently under consideration for Commonwealth funds, is a once in a lifetime opportunity to change the face of the city, following the removal of the rail line from the CBD.
“The development opportunities for the 19ha parcel of land could really help deliver a strong and secure economy for the Wodonga community.”
In addition to outlining prospective initiatives, Mayor Mark Byatt and Acting CEO Patience Harrington provided Senator McKenzie with information on a number of projects already delivered in the region.
“The intermodal LOGIC industry hub is a shining example of strategic and visionary planning,” Senator McKenzie said.
“Such projects attract further public and private investment in regional areas, providing ongoing benefits to local communities.
“Wodonga is well on the way to building a better future.”
Senator McKenzie’s LGA tour has taken her to Loddon, Campaspe, Moira, Wangaratta and Indigo Shires this week. The tour continues after Australia Day in Horsham.
