Aspiring sporting champions are encouraged to apply for funding to take them closer to fullfilling their dream.
The next round of grant applications for the Local Sporting Champions program is now open.
“The Liberal-National Government's Local Sporting Champions program provides assistance for coaches, officials and competitors aged 12-18 to participate in state, national or international championships,” Senator McKenzie said.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to help our young sporting champs to pursue their sporting dreams and represent their communities, but also to help their families cover costs.
“I'm a passionate believer that sport can really change lives. So many life skills can be learned through sport: commitment, resilience, patience, team work.
“Participating in sport is not only healthy for the body but also the mind. Sport builds self confidence in individuals and builds community spirit.
“And local sporting teams play a huge role in bringing people together in rural and regional communities.”
