Nationals Senator for Victoria, Bridget McKenzie said today that disaster assistance is available to residents in flood affected towns throughout Indi through Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA).
The program is jointed funded by the Australian and Victorian Governments and will offer support for people affected by the floods since the start of the month.
“The floods were not as dire as predicted but still recorded the biggest downpour in Victoria in 25 years last weekend.
“Myrtleford was the worst affected in the Indi electorate and I encourage any household or business affected to apply for assistance through NDRRA.
Assistance available includes:
• Personal hardship and distress assistance for families and individuals of up to $540 per adult and $270 per child (up to a maximum of $1,890 per household) to help meet immediate needs, including emergency food, shelter, clothing, and personal items.
• Personal and financial counselling, and
• Financial assistance for local and state government authorities to undertake counter-disaster operations and to restore damaged public infrastructure.
