Bendigo will host regional Victoria’s only Coalition Online Safety Working Group forum on May 17.
The Nationals Senator for Victoria Bridget McKenzie will lead a series of meetings with school children and representatives from Bendigo’s sporting, justice and community organisations.
“The Coalition Online Safety Working Group has travelled across Australia gathering information in an effort to better protect young people when using the internet,” Senator McKenzie said.
“Information gathered from the forum will be used to make effective policy, as the Coalition is committed to helping parents, carers, teachers and young people address online risks.”
Leading up to the Bendigo forum, Senator McKenzie is calling on parents to fill out an online survey, which aims to collect information about the internet experiences of families across Australia.
“The survey covers such matters as ownership and use of computers, phones and other devices, social media, and any cyber-bullying experiences,” Senator McKenzie said.
“The Coalition Online Safety Working Group is keen to hear the extent to which online safety is seen as a priority for central Victorian families.
“I encourage all parents to take the time to respond to this survey, which is open until the end of May.”
The survey can be answered online, through a link on Senator McKenzie’s website. Alternatively, a hard copy of the survey is available from the Senator’s electorate office by calling 5441 4251.
