NATIONALS VOTE FOR ANSWERS ON QATAR DECISION
The Federal Nationals Conference unanimously voted to urge greater transparency of the Federal Labor Government regarding their decision to restrict the expansion of Qatar Airways flights into Australia.
Nationals Senate Leader and Shadow Transport Minister Bridget McKenzie said the unanimous vote reflected the sentiment of the Australian people.
“Australians want an upfront and clear justification from the Albanese Government for the Qatar decision because it affects the affordability of airfares,” Senator McKenzie said.
“The more Minister King and the Albanese Government obfuscate and hide the real reason for the decision, the more the Australian travelling public have reason to think they are hiding something.
“It is clear from the Federal National Party Conference that people are fed up with a Government who were elected on a promise of transparency and accountability, and have done the opposite when it matters. “
The Federal National Party on Sunday passed the urgency motion “That this Conference calls on the Labor Government to be more transparent regarding their recent decisions restricting the expansion of Qatar Airways flights, thereby restricting competition in our aviation industry.”
