“Tomorrow will mark the 97th anniversary of the landing of Australian and New Zealand troops in Gallipoli,” Senator McKenzie said.
“In the cool light of a foreign dawn, thousands of brave young men stormed the beaches of Turkey in defence of God, King and Country.
“Over the nine month-long campaign, 8,141 Australians were killed in action,” she said.
Senator McKenzie will attend the dawn service at Ypres, Belgium to pay tribute to those soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice.
“We should never forget those who died in defence of our nation and our values,” Senator McKenzie concluded.
