There have been misleading reports about the options for schools being considered in the Reform of the Federation White Paper process.

To clarify:

o There are no plans to reduce government support to schools. The Reform of the Federation White Paper process looks at who is responsible for what.

o Charging wealthy parents for their children to attend public schools is not the government's policy. Minister Pyne does not support it.

o The Australian Government does not and will not support a means test for public education. Full stop. End of story.

o State and Territory Governments own and operate their government schools. If the states and territories want to charge wealthy parents fees for public schools that's a matter for them.
